Lincoln- The NCAA sent out its invitations for the 2006 women's gymnastics national championships on Monday morning, setting the 12-team field at the NCAA Championships hosted by OregonStateUniversity at Gill Coliseum, April 20-22 in Corvallis, Ore.
The Southeast Regional runner-up Huskers (20-7-1) will take on Utah, LSU, Oklahoma, Michigan and Alabama in the first session of the preliminary round on Thursday, April 20. The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (PST), and NU will begin with a bye before bars, followed by bars, beam, a bye before floor, floor and vault.
Second-round action, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, will include defending national champion Georgia, as well as Arizona State, Arkansas, Florida, OregonState and IowaState.
Sophomore Emily Parsons, who is a two-time regional all-around, vault and floor champion, will lead the 12th-ranked Huskers into their eighth straight NCAA Championships appearance.
