Buckman Named Big 12 Player of the Week

Dallas ? University of Nebraska first baseman Brandon Buckman was honored Tuesday, as he was selected as the Big 12 Player of the Week for March 21-27.

Buckman led the No. 3 Huskers to a series win over Kansas last weekend, hitting .615 (8-for-13) with a homer and four RBIs in three games. The 6-foot-5 senior from Monument, Colo., had three multi-hit games on the weekend, including a 4-for-5 effort in the series opener on March 25. Buckman also drove in two runs in NU’s 4-1 win in the nightcap and had two hits, including his sixth homer of the year, and drove in two runs in a 7-6 loss on Sunday.

Buckman is the first Husker position player and third Husker overall to earn a weekly conference honor this season, joining pitchers Joba Chamberlain and Johnny Dorn.
