Huskers Open Spring Ball

Lincoln ? The Nebraska football team opened spring practice Wednesday with a two-hour workout inside the HawksChampionshipCenter, as the snow from Monday’s winter storm kept them inside.

Defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove was excited to see the players back on the field.

“It was great to finally get a chance to get back out there and interact with the players in a practice setting,” Cosgrove said. “You could already see improvement in some of the guys from winter conditioning, and we want to continue to build on that progress in spring ball.”

The team practiced in helmets and shorts, a trend which will also be the case Friday before the team takes part in its first full-pad workout of the spring on Saturday morning.

Earlier in the day, Head Coach Bill Callahan and selected players addressed the media. A complete transcript of Coach Callahan’s comments, as well as selected quotes from players, are available by clicking on the links above.
