Lincoln ? University of Nebraska baseball coach Mike Anderson announced Monday that the Huskers’ series with Western Illinois scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park has been canceled because of the inclement weather throughout the Midwest.
The Huskers are 15-2 on the season and have an 11-game winning streak heading into Friday’s Big 12 opener with nationally ranked Kansas. NU played only two of its four games against South Dakota State because of poor weather, posting 10-0 and 3-0 shutouts.
Fans who have tickets for either Tuesday’s or Wednesday’s games can use those tickets for general admission seats to any of Nebraska’s remaining regular-season home games, beginning with this weekend’s Big 12 opening series with Kansas, based on seating availability.
Huskers Climb to No. 2 in Collegiate Baseball Poll
Following a 4-0 week, the Nebraska baseball team climbed one spot to second in the Collegiate Baseball poll released Monday. The Huskers’ No. 2 ranking is the school’s best-ever ranking in the magazine’s poll. In addition, NU jumped from 12th to eighth in this week’s Baseball America poll, marking NU’s first top-10 ranking of the season in that poll.
