Lincoln - Inclement weather and the forecast for measurable amounts of snow have forced the cancelation of the remainder of the Big Red Tournament, scheduled to conclude on Saturday and Sunday. The 16th-ranked Huskers were scheduled to play a pair of games against Akron and North Dakota State on each day.
Play went on as scheduled on day one of the tournament on Friday. NU posted a pair of run-rule victories, defeating NDSU 8-0 and Akron 10-2. In the other game of the day, the Bison edged Akron by a score of 4-3.
Nebraska is scheduled to return to the diamond on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Drake set to begin at 3 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium. The Huskers then travel to Austin, Texas, to open Big 12 Conference play against the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns on Saturday and Sunday.
