Huskers Maintain No. 10 National Ranking

Lincoln ? The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team maintained its No. 10 national ranking this week in the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches poll released Monday. The poll, which is calculated by regional qualifying score (RQS), also ranks NU (11-4-1) third in the South Central region and fourth in the Big 12 Conference after Sunday’s first-place finish (195.25) in the Masters Classic. In addition, the Huskers rank fourth nationally in team uneven bars scoring (49.105), seventh on vault (49.095), eighth on floor exercise (49.035) and 17th on balance beam (48.545).

Individually, sophomore Emily Parsons is ranked sixth (39.310) nationally in the all-around standings and is rated No. 3 on floor (9.895) and 12th on beam (9.845). Parsons is also the second-ranked vaulter in the nation with an RQS of 9.915, second only to two-time NCAA vault champion Ashley Miles of Alabama (9.93).

Junior Michele Zabawa is listed at No. 13 on the bars charts with an RQS of 9.865, while sophomore Desire' Sniatynski follows at No. 15 (9.86). Redshirt freshman Vanessa Meloche, who scored a career-best 9.95 on bars at the Masters Classic, is ranked 21st (9.84), and junior Stephanie Carter rounds out the Huskers' top-25 competitors at 19th on vault (9.86).

The Huskers will play host to No. 7 Iowa State next Sunday, March 5, at the BobDevaneySportsCenter. Competition is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will also feature the Nebraska men’s gymnastics dual against Oklahoma.
