Lincoln, Neb.?The Nebraska women’s tennis team’s success continues to be recognized on a national level as it has moved up to No. 36 in the ITA National Rankings released Tuesday. This marks the second straight week NU has moved up in the rankings.
“We are excited to keep moving up in the rankings,” Assistant coach Hayden Perez said. “The match this weekend against Texas is big and will let us know where we are. We will know where we stand after that.”
The Huskers, who own a 4-0 record, rolled over Air Force and Drake last weekend at the WoodsTennisCenter. NU has been led by strong outings from sophomore Imke Reimers at the No. 3 singles spot. In her last three matches, Reimers has only surrendered one game and owns a 10-2 singles record.
NU plays host to No. 3 Texas Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. to open up the conference season at the WoodsTennisCenter. Texas moves up to No. 3 after defeating three top-15 teams, including then-No. 3 Georgia Tech and then-No. 9 Miami. The Huskers close out a six-match home stand on Monday, Feb. 13 at Noon, when they face No. 57 Arkansas at the WoodsTennisCenter.
