Lincoln - Nebraska women's basketball fans are being encouraged to "Bring Your Daughter to the Game" when the Huskers play host to Iowa State at the Devaney Center on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 7:05 p.m.
As part of the 20th Annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 1, Husker fans who bring their daughters to the basketball game can receive free gift packs from Beauty First in Lincoln. Free posters will also be provided at the game to help fans celebrate the event.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, ceremonies and activities honoring the achievements of female athletes to encourage the participation of girls and women in sports.
In addition to the "Bring Your Daughter to the Game" promotion, Runza restaurants in Lincoln and Lancaster County provided 10,000 tickets to DARE educators, the Nebraska State Patrol, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Lincoln Police School Resource Officers to distribute throughout elementary and middle schools in Lancaster County.
