Lincoln ? The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team improved its ranking to No. 8 nationally this week in the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches poll released Monday. The poll, which is calculated by average team score, also ranks NU third in both the South Central region and the Big 12 Conference after Sunday's win over conference rival Missouri, 196.35-195.95. In addition, the Huskers rank fifth nationally in team vault scoring (49.062), as well as ninth on bars (48.75) and floor exercise (48.737).
Individually, sophomore Emily Parsons is the second-ranked vaulter in the nation with an average of 9.925 behind two-time NCAA vault champion Ashley Miles of Alabama (9.937), and is the No. 5 all-arounder (39.331). Parsons is also rated second on beam (9.862) and seventh on floor (9.862).
The Huskers will travel to Norman, Okla., this Saturday, Feb. 4, to take on No. 6 Oklahoma. Competition is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at OU's Lloyd Noble Center.
