Nebraska, College of Charleston Honored with Team Awards
LEANDER, Texas (January 3, 2006) - The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU.com) is pleased to announce that Nebraska and the College of Charleston have been named the CVU.com Blocking Team of the Year and the CVU.com Deep Digging Team of the Year, respectively for the 2005 season.
Rather than use the blocks per game and digs per game averages to select a winner, the Collegiate Volleyball Update has developed a formula to score blocking and digging.
Based on the formula, CVU.com determined the top five teams in each category listing the first as the award winner and the subsequent teams as Honorable Mentions in no particular order.
The best five blocking teams, based on the CVU.com formula, were Nebraska, Penn State, Utah, Washington, and St. Mary's College.
The College of Charleston led the quintet of digging teams with Yale, Duke, Eastern Illinois, and Stephen F. Austin receiving Honorable Mention.
