Lincoln- The Nebraska football team donned half pads for a two-hour practice inside Cook Pavilion Wednesday, as preparations continued for the Alamo Bowl match-up with Michigan
After practice, head coach Bill Callahan addressed the media, discussing the practice format for the next two weeks.
“Overall, it was a good practice,” Callahan said. “It was good to get the team back on schedule. I presented our practice format to the team today. We will work on Wednesdays as a team, take Thursdays off, and we’ll work Friday, Saturday and Sunday, before taking Mondays off and returning for 7-on-7 drills on Tuesday.”
Callahan also discussed this weekend’s recruiting visits, which will be held in conjunction with Nebraska’s season banquet on Saturday night.
“We have about seven recruits coming in this weekend,” Callahan said. “Those guys will be braving the elements coming into Lincoln, but we are excited about our recruiting class and the prospects that will be in.”
Tight end Matt Herian returned to sporting a green hands-off jersey for some light work, before returning to full-scale drills in the spring. After practice, Callahan announced that freshman cornerback Robert Rands has left the football team, preferring to focus on track and field with the Huskers.
The Huskers will continue their preparations with a Friday afternoon practice.
