Congdon, Turner Named Rivals.com Freshman All-Americans

True freshmen Jordan Congdon and Barry Turner are two of 27 freshmen nationally who have been selected to the Rivals.com Freshman All-America first team. <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska is one of five schools with more than one first-team selection joining Arkansas, Cal, Oregon and Texas A&M.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

A native of San Diego, Congdon has connected on 18-of-22 field goals and 28-of-29 extra-point attempts as a true freshman. Condgon’s 18 field goals are a Nebraska freshman record and have matched the NU school single-season record of 18 set by current Houston Texans’ place-kicker Kris Brown. Congdon had a streak of 11 consecutive field goals made snapped at Colorado, but has connected on 12 of his last 13 attempts heading into the bowl game.

The 6-3, 245-pound Turner ranks third on the team with six sacks for 46 yards in losses, setting a Nebraska freshman sack record. A native of Antioch, Tenn., Turner is also tied for the national lead in sacks by a freshman, and he has also added six quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and two blocked kicks.
