2006 Football 101 Gift Certificates Available

<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln -- Delight a special person in your life with the gift of education this Christmas.  Coach Callahan Charities, Inc., is now selling gift certificates for the 2006 Football 101 for Women event to benefit the fight against breast cancer.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

Tentatively scheduled for June 2, 2006, this event has attracted more than 2,000 women in its two years.  Those who attend the event have the opportunity to learn football from Nebraska’s best teachers, the Nebraska Football coaching staff.  During the one-day event, participants have an opportunity to learn hands-on the plays, terminology, and information on nutrition, strength training, film sessions and everything that goes into game-day preparation for the Husker football team.

Proceeds from gift certificate sales, as well as registration fees for the event, will be kept here in Nebraska as the proceeds will be given to the UNMCEppleyCancerCenter in Omaha.  The mission of the UNMCEppleyCancerCenter is to coordinate basic and clinical cancer research, patient care, and educational programs; to facilitate application of new knowledge about the etiology, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer; and to improve health and quality of life.  The CancerCenter is also committed to training the researchers of tomorrow.  The CancerCenter provides graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with the opportunity to obtain advanced training in cancer research in a multidisciplinary environment.  Last year, Coach Callahan’s Football 101 for Women raised $50,000 for the EppleyCenter.
