LINCOLN ? The Nebraska football team continued preparations for Friday’s regular-season-ending tilt at Colorado with a two-hour practice inside Memorial Stadium Tuesday.
The Huskers broke out their crowd noise simulations during Tuesday’s workout to help prepare for what NU expects to be a hostile crowd at CU’s Folsom Field.
"It really helps," Head Coach Bill Callahan said. "When that crowd noise is cranked up, it really helps us keep our focus and concentration. It makes them communicate, which is tough with the noise. Hand signals, all of those types of things, we utilized today and had a lot of good practice time.
"I just think it keeps things interesting (during practice). It helps keep (the players) on their toes and keeps practice stimulating. We try to change it up a bit. We’re going to have to deal with the elements, whether it’s the weather, ... the altitude or whatever it may be."
Callahan addressed the injury status of several Huskers following practice, including starting offensive tackles Seppo Evwaraye and Cornealius Fuamatu-Thomas. While Evwaraye is not listed as the scheduled starter due to an injured foot, there is a possibility of him seeing snaps against Colorado. Meanwhile, Fuamatu-Thomas will not be making the trip, Callahan said, as he underwent season-ending shoulder surgery Monday.
The Huskers will conclude their game-week preparations for Colorado Wednesday afternoon. The team will spend its off-day from classes visiting two Lincoln-area hospitals on Wednesday morning.
