Bulldogs Race Past Lancers

Lincoln --- Junior Paul Millsap, the nation's top rebounder each of the past two seasons, led Louisiana Tech with 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to an 83-73 victory over Longwood Saturday in the fourth game of the John Thompson Foundation Basketball Challenge at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Millsap dominated the paint as he 11-of-15 attempts from the floor, including his only 3-point try, and added four steals in 31 minutes of action. Jerome Richardson and Corey Dean joined Millsap in double figures as the pair added 17 points apiece to pull LaTech to 1-1 on the season.

The Bulldogs needed every bit of Millsap's presence as Longwood kept it close until late. The Lancers were led by Michael Jefferson's 26 points while Kirk Williams added 13 points and Maurice Sumter added 11. Both teams shot well from the floor as Louisiana Tech hit 53.3 percent while Longwood connected on half (50 percent) of its shots.

The teams conclude the four-team tournament on Sunday with Longwood taking on Yale in the first game of the day at 1 p.m. while Louisiana Tech takes on the host Cornhuskers at approximately 3:30 p.m.
