Lincoln- The Nebraska football team donned half pads for a two-hour practice inside Cook Pavilion Wednesday, as preparations continued for next Friday’s 2:30 p.m. ABC-televised match-up with Colorado.
After practice, defensive coordinator Kevin Cosgrove spoke with the media about the Blackshirts preparations for the Buffaloes.
“We have a lot of things to work on,” Cosgrove said. “Colorado gives you a lot of different looks and a lot of different groupings, so it is definitely to our advantage to have an extra week to prepare.”
Cosgrove also specifically addressed the play of the Husker secondary.
“At times, we do a lot of good things,” Cosgrove said. “We have to be more consistent, but overall, they played very well the other day. We allowed one big play and that was disappointing, but overall, I think that they are improving.”
Cosgrove discussed the development of cornerback Zackary Bowman, stating that he has been pleased with his progress.
“(Zackary) Bowman is a kid who had been out of high school for a couple of years, but he was still a freshman within the system,” Cosgrove said. “This year was a tremendous learning experience for him, and I think that you will definitely see the impact of this season in his play next year. He is getting a lot better as the season goes on, and we expect him to be a dominant player.”
The Huskers will continue their preparations with a Thursday afternoon practice.
