Huskers Begin Preparations for Colorado

Lincoln- The Nebraska football team donned half pads for a two-hour practice inside Cook Pavilion Wednesday, as preparations began for the Nov. 25 match-up with Colorado.

After practice, Head Coach Bill Callahan addressed the impact of senior defensive tackle Titus Adams in the win against Kansas State and throughout the season.

"He was our player of the game this past week," Callahan said. "He’s just been very active, and he’s been very consistent throughout the year. He’s shown the ability to get off a block, separate and disengage, and make plays. He’s really a motivated guy. He’s an exciting guy to be at practice with, on the practice field, and he’s done an excellent job in terms of his performance."

Boosted by the moral brought by the win against Kansas State, Callahan recognized the attentiveness the team brought to drills and meetings Tuesday.

"(The team was) very focused," Callahan said. "Everyone was very sharp in our preparation today and in our meetings. Very sharp on the practice field. We got a lot of good work done."

Callahan also acknowledged starting quarterback Zac Taylor’s return to action after being cleared by doctors, as well as the reps the backups will see this week due to a break in the schedule this weekend.

"With this bye week, we’re fortunate to have a little bit of extra time, so we practiced (freshman quarterback) Harrison (Beck) a little bit more this afternoon to get him a few more reps," Callahan said. "We’ve had an opportunity to utilize time and more repetitions for the younger players at the conclusion of practice, and that’s what we did today. That’s what we’ll do tomorrow and Thursday as well."

Callahan additionally recognized the retirement of Kansas State Head Coach Bill Snyder and his contribution to the Wildcat football program as the "best turnaround job in all of college history."

"In professional football I went to Kansas State to work out several of his players, and I always had the opportunity to stop by and say hello," Callahan said. "He’s a class individual, through and through, and he ran that program with class. He brought a prominence to it that it didn’t have. He’s done a magnificent job. So I have immense respect for Coach Snyder and his staff, and what they accomplished there, and what he accomplished personally as a head coach."

Nebraska will continue its preparations Wednesday with an afternoon practice.
