Fall Break Tour of Excellence to Visit Blair and Nebraska City

Lincoln - University of Nebraska student-athletes, Lil’ Red, Herbie and Miss Nebraska 2004 are teaming up to motivate and inspire elementary through middle level students in Blair, Nebraska City and surrounding communities on Oct. 17-18 during the annual fall break “Tour of Excellence.”  <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

University speakers will share messages regarding education, life skills and decision-making.  Space permitting, host schools are inviting nearby schools to attend the motivational programs which will last approximately 75 minutes. 

 

The “Tour of Excellence” concept started in 1994 in effort to take role-model student-athletes and campus leaders across the state of <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Nebraska.  In the 11-year history of the fall and spring break “Tour of Excellence,” more than 55,000 students have participated in the assemblies.  The “Tour of Excellence will resume during the University of Nebraska’s spring break visiting six additional schools from March 13-16, 2006.

 

Scheduled to appear during the fall break “Tour of Excellence” on Oct. 17 in Blair are football players Brandon Jackson and Dane Todd, volleyball players Christina Houghtelling and Sarah Pavan, soccer players Jess Bruch and Brigid Kenny, 2004 Miss Nebraska Brook Matthews, and HuskerVision staff member Mike Maryott, a Blair alumnus.

 

Featured on the Oct. 18 stop in NebraskaCity are football player Cortney Grixby, volleyball players Dani Busboom and Amanda Gates, soccer players Jessica Goodell and Meghan Hungerford, and Athletic Marketing staff member Jason Rathe, a NebraskaCity alumnus.
