Lincoln ? Because of threatening weather forecast for Tuesday, Nebraska Baseball Coach Mike Anderson announced that Tuesday’s Red/White Series opener will now start at 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday’s opener, which was originally set for 6 p.m. was moved as the forecast shows a 50 percent chance of showers on Tuesday evening. With Tuesday’s time change, all three games will start at 2:30 p.m. The entire series is free and open to the public, while concession stands will be open at Hawks Field.
The Huskers return 15 letterwinners from last season’s College World Series team that won a school-record 57 games, including All-Americans Joba Chamberlain and Johnny Dorn, All-Big 12 closer Brett Jensen and Lincoln Regional MVP Andy Gerch.
Tuesday’s opener will feature a pair of talented freshmen, as Drew Schwab takes the hill for the Red squad while Charlie Shirek will start for the White team.
This week’s Red/White Series is the final time to see the Huskers in action before they open the 2006 campaign at Charleston Southern on Feb. 16. The home opener is March 11, against SEC power Alabama.
