Play Concludes at Lloyd Stokdad Tournament

Des Moines, Iowa? The Nebraska women’s tennis team resumed play Sunday at the Llyod Stokdad Tournament at DrakeUniversity, completing action at the three-day competition.

Sophomore Ellinor Zugner and senior Jennifer Cremieux rolled over Meredith Esbeck and Sarah Kendall from Northern Iowa, 8-1, to finish third in the doubles Blue Flight bracket.

Zugner and Cremieux were also scheduled to face off in the championship match of the singles Dog Flight bracket, but the match was not played.

Assistant coach Hayden Perez was impressed with the focus his team showed throughout the tournament.

“This was the first chance I had to coach this team,” Perez said.  “It was also the players’ first chance to get used to me coaching them on the court.  I was very impressed with the focus that they showed during the last three days.”

Nebraska returns to action on Thursday, October 6, at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
