Huskers Finish Full-Scale Exercises

LINCOLN ? The Nebraska football team concluded the full-scale practice phase of its game-week schedule Thursday with a two-hour workout inside Memorial Stadium. The Huskers prepared for Saturday’s 2:30 p.m. regionally-televised matchup with Pittsburgh in half pads.

"We’re just ready to go play," Head Coach Bill Callahan said. "That’s where we’re at today. We got a lot of good work done down in the red-zone. We finished practice with a good 15-mintue period."

Callahan announced that offensive lineman Rodney Picou would be out for the remainder of the season after having surgery on his shoulder last week. The injury, Callahan said, was similar to the one offensive lineman Andy Christiansen suffered earlier in the season.

"We’re going to lose him this year, but he’ll have the opportunity to get stronger in the off-season and be ready for spring," Callahan said.

Nebraska will continue its game-week preparations Friday afternoon with a short walk-through practice.

Note: Saturday’s matchup with the Panthers will also serve as Nebraska’s Red Cross Day. Fans are encouraged to donate to the Red Cross during both pre-game and post-game activities. Volunteers will be stationed outside the stadium before the game, while buckets will be passed through the stands at halftime for fans to show their support for the organization.
