LINCOLN, Neb. ? The Lancaster County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the University of Nebraska will partner together on Saturday to collect monetary donations for survivors of Hurricane Katrina and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Volunteers from the local Red Cross and UNL students will take donations 90 minutes before, and up until 20 minutes after the Nebraska vs. Maine football game on Saturday, Sept. 3. The total amount donated to the POWER OF RED relief effort will be made available next week.
Fans are also encouraged to donate via credit card by calling 800-Help-Now (1-800-435-7669) or by sending a check to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, P.O. Box 83267 , Lincoln, NE 68501. More information may also be obtained on-line at redcross.org. All Red Cross Disaster Assistance is free to those receiving aid.
The Lancaster County Chapter of the American Red Cross will still pass the buckets to collect for their local chapter at halftime of the Sept. 17 Nebraska vs. Pittsburgh game. Proceeds from the pass-the-bucket fund-raiser stay in Nebraska and go toward the support of local chapter programs and their First Aid Team. The Lancaster County Chapter of the American Red Cross has provided first aid at Memorial Stadium since 1937.
