Lincoln --- Six members of the Nebraska men's basketball team were among the 274 Husker student-athletes honored as part of the Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll after recording spring semester grade-point averages of 3.0 or better, the NU Athletic Department announced Thursday.
The men's and women's track and field teams combined for 64 awards while the Husker football team recorded the most by one squad, with 60 members earning the award. Overall, 37 Huskers across all sports earned perfect 4.0 GPAs in the spring, including one in men's basketball.
Bronsen Schliep led the way for the Husker hoops team as he recorded a perfect GPA for the eighth consecutive semester of college. Schliep, a business administration major who has already been accepted to the University of Nebraska dental school following the completion of his basketball eligibility, has been named to the honor roll every semester of college and was a first-team academic All-Big 12 selection in 2005.

A three-time academic All-Big 12 first-team member, Turek was honored for the sixth timein his career after graduating in just three and one-half years in December 2004. The honor was the eighth overall for Muhleisen, who was the second of NU's four seniors to graduate in May.

Dourisseau and Wilbrand, who were also first-team academic All-Big 12 selections, earned the award for the sixth and eighth time, respectively, while Velander was named to the squad for the second straight semester.
