Nebraska vs. Miami notes -- Game 2

Nebraska Game Notes:
**-- Today’s game attendance of 8, 711 was the largest in Haymarket Park history.

**-- Johnny Dorn went 6.1 innings allowing just one run to pick up his 12th win of the season. Dorn, who has won 12 straight decisions, moved into sole possesion of third on the NU single-season chart, trailing only Troy Brohawn, who had 13 wins in 1993, and Shane Komine, who had a school-record 14 wins while leading Nebraska to its first-ever College World Series appearance in 2001.

 

**-- Nebraska now holds a 10-game winning streak which is one off the Huskers' season high of 11 set from March 11 to March 23. NU has now won seven straight games over ranked teams with the two-game sweep over the No. 13 Hurricanes.

 

**-- Alex Gordon’s home run was his 19th of the season and the 44th home run of his career. It was his 45th extra-base hit of the season and moved him into sole possesion of third on the NU single-season chart for extra-base hits.

**-- Nebraska has scored in the first inning 33 times and is now 28-5 when scoring in the first inning.

**-- Joe Simokaitis’ home run was the first postseason home run of his career, the 79th hit of the season and 242nd hit of his career.

**-- Daniel Bruce’s stolen base in the fifth inning was the Huskers’ 100th stolen base of the season.

**-- Ryan Bohanan’s home run in the top of the eighth was his first career home run.


**-- Closer Brett Jensen increased his school record with his 14th save of the season as he went 1.2 hitless innings Saturday.


Miami Game Notes:
**-- John Jay’s solo home run was the first of this season and the seventh of his career.

**-- Jay finished the season with a .408 average to become the first Hurricane since Kevin Howard hit .413 in the 2000 season.

 

**-- Ryan Braun’s RBI in the bottom of the eighth tied his career-high for 76 RBIs in a season.

 

**-- Miami closed the season by losing eight of its last 11 games, including two straight at Hawks Field.

**-- It was the Hurricanes' third Super Regional appearance away from Coral Gables. Miami has never advanced to the College World Series by winning a Super Regional on the road.

 

**-- Catcher Eddy Rodriguez finished the game by going 3 for 4 at the plate, recording nearly half of the Hurricanes' seven hits and finishing one hit shy of his season and career high.

 

**-- Miami was held to just four runs over two games against the Huskers (1 in Game 1 and 3 in Game 2). The Hurricanes had come into the matchup averaging 8.1 runs per game on the season. The last time Miami was held to four runs or less in consecutive NCAA Tournament games was 1979 when it scored four runs in the College World Series against Arizona (1) and Pepperdine (3).
