NU-Miami game 1 notes

Nebraska game notes:

**-- Nebraska has won nine straight games and 14 of their last 15 contests dating back to a one-run loss on May 15 to Texas Tech on the road.

**-- Nebraska, which took a 1-0 lead in the best of three series with the Hurricanes, has not lost a three-game series since April 8-10 against No. 1 Texas. The Huskers won Game 1 against the Longhorns, 4-3 in 16 innings, before dropping the next two games in the series, the last time this year Nebraska lost two consecutive games. The Texas series is the only one the Huskers have lost this season.

**- Today’s attendance of 8,308 is the sixth largest crowd in Hawks Field history. Nebraska has recorded six of the top 10 crowds in school history during the 2005 season.

**-- Joba Chamberlain picked up 13 strikeouts on the game, his most since recording a career-high 15 against New Mexico on Feb. 25. It was his fifth double-figure strikeout game of the season. It was also the longest outing for Chamberlain since going 8.0 innings against Baylor on April 22. His two games before that contest were complete-game victories.

** - With his 13 strikeouts today, Joba Chamberlain has moved into third place on NU’s single-season strikeout list with 126 strikeouts, moving past Shane Komine (115, 2002) and Troy Brohawn (123, 1993). Komine is the only Husker pitcher in history with more strikeouts in a single season after earning a school-record 159 in 2000 and 157 in 2001.

**-- Nebraska catcher Jeff Christy threw out two on the day and has now thrown out six-of-seven would-be base stealers in the Huskers' four games during the NCAA Tournament.

**-- Christy picked up his fourth stolen base of the year in the fifth inning. Christy is now 4 for 4 in stolen bases this season.

**-- Christy also tied a season high with two hits, a single and double. It was his fifth double of the year and sixth extra-base hit. He was hit by a pitch in the third inning -- his fourth HBP of the year -- and reached base all in all three plate appearances against the Hurricanes.

**-- Daniel Bruce blasted his fifth home run of the season in the fifth inning. It was just Bruce's second homer since April 1 against Oklahoma State. His last home run came on May 10 against Creighton.

Miami game notes:

**-- Miami fell to 22-3 on the season when holding opponents to three runs or less.

**-- Miami fell to 33-5-1 this season when outhitting its opponent. The Hurricanes had seven hits to Nebraska's six in Game 1.

**-- The last time Miami lost when a Hurricane pitcher tossed a complete game was April 25, 2003, when the Hurricanes lost to Florida State, 1-0, at streak of 146 games.

**-- This is the third Super Regional the Hurricanes have played on the road and UM has lost the first game each time. In all three games, UM came back to win the second game and lose the third. UM has never lost a Super Regional game at home in Coral Gables, Fla.

**-- Miami came into the game with 105 steals in 148 attempts and had stolen 13-of-14 in NCAA Tournament play this year. UM was 0 for 2 Friday against the Huskers.

**-- Paco Figueroa gave the Hurricanes the lead in the fourth with their first run on a solo blast to left field. The home run was Figueroa's fifth of the season.

**-- Hurricane batters struck out 12 times in the game, the most an opposing pitcher has recorded against UM this season.

**-- Miami fell to 2-5 in Super Regional play on the road and is now 10-5 in Super Regional play under coach Jim Morris.

**-- Pitcher Cesar Carrillo tossed 10 strikes in 11 pitches in the second inning when he struck out the side.
