Norfolk Husker Nation Tour

Norfolk, Neb. - The 2005 Husker Nation Tour journeyed to Northeast Nebraska on Thursday afternoon with a successful stop in Norfolk. Approximately 200 fans in the hometown of late night television legend Johnny Carson enjoyed the show put on by Husker coaches.

The tour stop in Norfolk opened at Memorial Field at 3 p.m., with participants receiving first-hand instruction from Husker coaches.  The NU coaches took fans inside the huddle, treateing them to three 18-minute sessions in which they walked the fans through specific aspects of Nebraska's on-field and on-court coaching techniques.

Nebraska recruiting coordinator and tight ends and specialists coach Scott Downing treated Husker fans to a dose of the West Coast Offense, while defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Kevin Cosgrove tutored the Husker Nation Tour participants on defense.

Nebraska women's basketball head coach Connie Yori changed things up for the Husker fans by showcasing her techniques to the participants.

Coach Yori said the reception the Husker Nation Tour received in Norfolk was impressive.

"It is always great to get out amongst the great Husker fans," Yori said. "I know we have a lot of support in Norfolk and it was great to get a chance to show them what we do every day, today."

Assistant Athletic Director for Administration Pat Logsdon and assistant director of development and former Husker quarterback Tommie Frazier were also on hand for the day's festivities in Norfolk.  Frazier served as the emcee of the event.

One lucky fan attending the Norfolk tour stop, Tom Rezac, won two tickets to Nebraska's season-opening football game with the Maine Black Bears on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
