Lincoln Husker Nation Tour

Lincoln - The 2005 Husker Nation Tour wrapped up the third year of the event with the last of its 10 stops in Nebraska cities with Thursday evening's event that was moved inside to the Lincoln East High School gymnasium.

The tour stop in Lincoln began with Nebraska coaches and athletic department staff members arriving shortly before 4:30 p.m.  The event, which featured Athletic Director Steve Pederson, gave Husker coaches a chance to interact with fans in a unique coach-player setting.

The coaches on the tour stop gave the fans in Lincoln first-hand instruction and took them inside the huddle, treating the participants to three 18-minute sessions in which they walked them through specific aspects of Nebraska's coaching techniques.

Nebraska running backs coach Randy Jordan offered the fans an inside look at the Huskers' West Coast Offense, while special teams coordinator and safeties coach Bill Busch gave the participants in Lincoln a closer look at the NU defense.

Nebraska assistant women's basketball LaKale Malone, who filled in for women's soccer head coach John Walker on the tour, also gave those in attendance a look inside a Husker basketball practice.  Walker, who was originally planning to attend the tour stops in Beatrice and Lincoln, was forced to the sidelines while recovering from knee surgery.

Athletic Director Steve Pederson said the Husker Nation Tour offered fans a chance to see Nebraska's coaches at their best.

"Nebraska fans got a chance to see these great coaches do what they do best, and that is teach their sports," Pederson said. "We are fortunate to have such great people at Nebraska and by combining that with our great fans, yuo have a magical combination."

Associate Athletic Director for Communications Chris Anderson and Assistant Athletic Director for Student Life Keith Zimmer were also on hand for the event.

One lucky fan in Lincoln, B&D Haws, won two tickets to Nebraska's season-opening football game with the Maine Black Bears on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln.
