Husker Red Out Set for Friday?s Regional Opener

Lincoln -- University of Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson is encouraging Husker fans from across the state to wear red this Friday and all weekend in support of the Husker baseball team’s quest for an NCAA regional title.

"We are looking for our fans from across the Husker Nation to wear red Friday, not only at Hawks Field, but across the state to show support for the Husker baseball program," Pederson said. "We have seen the influence that our great fans have shown with the Sea of Red at Memorial Stadium, and we want to bring that same support to the Huskers’ drive during the postseason all weekend."

The Huskers (51-13) will open regional play on Friday afternoon against the University of Illinois at Chicago with a first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. As of Wednesday evening, over 6,500 all-session tickets have been sold for the regional which also features North Carolina State and Creighton. All-session tickets are on sale by calling the NU Ticket Office at 800-8-BIGRED during business hours (8 a.m. - 5p.m.) or online at Huskers.com.
