Lincoln - The 2005 Husker Nation Tour will feature an "Inside Husker Football" theme this season. Returning for its third season, the 2005 Tour is slated for Thursday, June 9, when five different groups of Husker coaches and staff will greet fans in 10 Nebraska locations. Cities on the 2005 tour include Valentine, Norfolk, Alliance, Ogallala, York, Kearney, Omaha, Fremont, Beatrice and Lincoln.
"The Husker Nation Tour has given us a unique opportunity to go out into the community and spend time with Husker fans," Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson said. "We are grateful for the support provided to us by our sponsor First National Bank and from the Pinnacle Sports Productions Radio Network. We feel this is an excellent way for fans to have a better chance to get to know our coaching staff, and to renew old acquaintances."
Each stop of the Tour will feature an offensive and a defensive coach and an additional Husker featured coach. Each of the Tour events will be held outside on athletic fields to accommodate this year’s theme "Inside Husker Football." At each stop, the coaches will give fans an inside look at the West Coast Offense and the Husker Defense by demonstrating coaching techniques to the participants on the field. All of the participants will have the opportunity to rotate through each of the three coaching stations at the respective sites.
The chairperson, time and site of the event is listed below, along with additional event-specific information.
In March, the athletic department expanded the tour "Beyond the Borders" and had a very successful event in Kansas City when the basketball teams were in town for the Big 12 Tournaments. This year the Husker Nation Tour will focus on larger venues across the state to accommodate larger crowds. As the Husker Nation Tour embarks on its third year, it has already reached more than 25,000 people.
