Lincoln ? The NCAA announced Sunday that the University of Nebraska was selected as one of 16 sites for next week’s NCAA Regional. The 2005 Lincoln regional begins on Friday, June 3, with two opening round games and could run through Monday, June 6 at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

This season marks the fourth time in the last five years that Nebraska has been chosen to host an NCAA regional and the third time since Hawks Field opened in 2002. The Huskers, who are 50-13 heading into Sunday’s Big 12 title game against Baylor, have won two regional titles at home (2001-02) while losing to Southwest Missouri State two years ago. Nebraska is 28-4 at Hawks Field this season.

Tickets for the Lincoln Regional will go on-sale online at Huskers.com, beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29.  A limited number of all-session club seat ($70) and upper reserved ($63) tickets are available with a maximum of four tickets per order. General admission seating in the berms is also available ($56 for adults; $35 for youths) with no limit on the number of tickets available per order. Because of the long Memorial Day weekend, the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office, located across the street from Memorial Stadium, will not be open until Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.

Along with Nebraska, a pair of other Big 12 teams -- Baylor (Waco, Texas) and Texas (Austin, Texas) -- will also be playing host to regionals next weekend. The remaining 13 regoinal hosts include: Arizona State (Tempe, Ariz.), Cal State Fullerton (Fullerton, Calif.), Clemson (Clemson, S.C.), Florida (Gainsville, Fla.), Georgia Tech (Atlanta, Ga.), LSU (Baton Rouge, La.), Long Beach State (Long Beach, Calif.), Miami (Coral Gables, Fla.), Ole Miss (Oxford, Miss.), Oregon State (Corvallis, Ore.), Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Tulane (New Orleans, La.).
