Lincoln ? Nebraska outfielder Daniel Bruce (Omaha, Neb.) heads up the list of 11 players chosen for the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VII team released Thursday.
The four-year starter for the third-ranked Huskers, Bruce carries a 3.866 GPA in English and is a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection. This is the second straight season that Bruce, who was named NU’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year, earned academic All-District honors.
On the field, Bruce holds NU’s career record with 65 HBP, while also ranking on the Huskers’ career top-10 list in at-bats (725, eighth), doubles (49, third) and games played (227, fifth). This season, Bruce is batting .310 with four homers, 22 RBIs and a team-high 16 doubles, a total that ranks third in the Big 12.
With his selection to the Academic All-District Team, Bruce will now advance to the national ballot to earned consideration for All-America honors
