Lincoln? The Nebraska football team held its final practice of the week, and seventh practice of the spring season, in full pads on a sunny Saturday morning inside Memorial Stadium. The workout included approximately an hour of full-contact scrimmage work.
The Huskers conducted their first "second-down scrimmage" of the spring, where the team started nearly every drive on second down. Nebraska also managed to squeeze in more than 30 third-down situations during the scrimmage.
"(Third down) was an area we targeted in the pre-spring that we had to improve on," Head Coach Bill Callahan said. "I was really pleased with the work we got in that special category."
Callahan was impressed by his team’s effort not only Saturday, but the entire week, which featured four demanding practices.
"They all impressed me," Callahan said. "Our defense is continuing to improve fundamentally. I like what we’re doing in our coverage and fronts. But to single out one player I think would be really unfair. This team has really worked hard this week. I’m really proud of their efforts. We’ve put in four hard, tough and physical days in pads, and it’s really paid off."
The Huskers continue spring practice on Monday, April 4 at 3:45 p.m. Nebraska has seven practices remaining before the annual Red-White Spring Game on April 16. Tickets for the Spring Game can be purchased by clicking on the link below or by calling or visiting the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office.
