Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska women's tennis team moved up two spots in the ITA national rankings released Tuesday to No. 30. This is the highest ranking in school history, eclipsing the old mark of No. 31 set two weeks ago. The Huskers own a 14-2 record, which is the best record in the Big 12. Only two teams, No. 8 Texas and No. 12 Baylor, are ranked higher than NU in the conference.
Head Coach Scott Jacobson is pleased with the recognition his program has received this season.
"It's really exciting at this stage of the season," Jacobson said. "Our goal of going to the NCAA Tournament is still a possibility. So we are very pleased with the ranking."
Nebraska says goodbye to seniors Gitte Ostermann, ranked No. 34 nationally, and Katie Garcia on Sunday, April 3, when Oklahoma State comes to Lincoln for the Huskers' final home match of the season. Both seniors have been key contributors during their time in Lincoln.
NU will play OSU at the NU Varsity Courts at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 3, for its first home outdoor match of the season. In the case of bad weather, the match will be moved to the Woods Tennis Center.
