Gordon Earns Big 12 and National Honors

Lincoln ? Alex Gordon (Lincoln, Neb.) picked up his second national honor in as many days on Tuesday, as the Husker third baseman was chosen as the Pro-Line Cap National Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA).

Gordon, who was also selected as the Big 12’s Player of the Week on Tuesday, hit .560 (14-for-25) with four homers, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored in leading the Huskers to a perfect 6-0 record. Gordon, who leads the Big 12 with a .437 average, had six multi-hit games last week, including a 3-for-4 effort with two homers, five RBIs and four runs scored in a win against Northern Colorado on Tuesday. Tennessee’s Luke Hochevar was selected as the pitcher of the week after tossing a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a win over Auburn.
 
Nebraska is 18-2 on the season and enjoying its best start in 22 years.
