Huskers Travel to Alabama

The top-ranked Nebraska bowling team travels to Birmingham, Ala., this weekend to compete in the NCAA Holiday Classic. The two-day tournament takes place at the Holiday Bowl Fun Center and features many of the top bowling programs in the country.

The Huskers enter the Holiday Classic as the defending tournament champions.

Miller Earns First Title
Husker sophomore Adrienne Miller claimed her first career tournament title last weekend at the Bayside Collegiate Classic. Miller averaged a 208.7 through six games to lead the Big Red to its fourth tournament title of the season. Freshman Lindsay Baker joined Miller on the all-tournament team with an average of 199.2.

Nebraska Ranked No. 1 in First Ever NCAA Poll
The Nebraska bowling team earned the No. 1 ranking in the first-ever National Tenpin Coaches Association Poll, released Jan. 15. In previous years the rankings had been done by the Amateur Bowling Association. Now that bowling has taken an NCAA sport status, an official poll was organized.

Pluhowsky Named Bowler of the Year
Three-time All-American Shannon Pluhowksy was named the 2004 Women’s Bowler of the Year by the Bowling Writers Association of America. Pluhowsky earned the top honor by winning her second World Cup title (2002, 2004) in three years. She is a five-time member of Team USA.
