West Lafayette, Ind. - Junior Amie Buoy registered Nebraska's highest finish at the NCAA Championships since 2001 with an 18th-place performance on the three-meter dive Friday in West Lafayette, Ind.
Buoy earned a score of 458.65, and finished right behind Big 12 Champion, Rosie Whiting of Texas A&M, who placed 17th (459.80). Buoy is the first Husker to place in the top 20 at the national event since 2001 when the Huskers finished 23rd in the team standings with 38 points.
Sophomore Lauren Bailey competed in her second of three events in the meet, placing 28th in the 400-yard individual medley. It is the highest NCAA Championship placing of her career, after finishing as high as 33rd in the 1,500-meter freestyle at last year's NCAA Championships. The San Mateo, Calif., native swam a time of 4:20.56, her second fastest time this season.
Buoy has completed her competition for the meet, while Bailey will compete in the 1,650-yard freestyle on Saturday.
