The top-ranked Nebraska bowling team will compete March 19-20 in the Nashville Classic in Nashville, Tenn. The Huskers will be looking to capture their fourth straight tournament title and sixth of the season. The two-day event is being held at Melrose Lanes and will feature eight of the top bowling programs in the country. The tournament is set to begin Saturday at 8 a.m. and will conclude Sunday afternoon.
Nebraska will have a few weeks off to prepare for the NCAA Championships in Orlando, Fla. April 14-17. In 2004, the Huskers earned the first-ever NCAA national championship after bowling was elevated to NCAA championship status in April of 2003.
Miller Claims Second Tournament Title
Nebraska sophomore Adrienne Miller earned her second career tournament title at the NCAA Holiday Classic with a 229.1 average through eight games. Miller lead NU to it’s fifth tournament title of the season with a two-day tornament record of 9-1. Just one week before, Miller captured her first career tournament title at the Bayside Collegiate Classic with a 208.7 average through six games to lead the Huskers to the tournament title.
Nebraska Ranked No. 1 in First Ever NCAA Poll
The Nebraska bowling team earned the No. 1 ranking in the first-ever National Tenpin Coaches Association Poll, released Jan. 15. In previous years, the rankings had been done by the Amateur Bowling Association. Now that bowling has taken an NCAA sport status, an official poll was organized.
