Nebraska Moves up to No. 31 in the ITA National Rankings

Lincoln, Neb.--The Nebraska women's tennis team moved up to No. 31 in the national rankings released Tuesday, March 14, the highest ranking in school history. The old mark was set last week when NU was ranked No. 36. Before this year, the highest ranking NU had received was No. 39 in 2001.

Nebraska started the season ranked No. 71. The Huskers then fell to No. 74, the only time they fell in the rankings all season. After defeating two ranked non-conference opponents at home in then-No. 44 Iowa and then-No. 68 Washington State, NU shot up the rankings to No. 52.

In its first road test of the season, Nebraska defeated then-No. 28 Texas A&M. TAMU was the highest ranked team NU has beaten in school history. The Big Red then rose to No. 38 in the rankings, and after Nebraska defeated No. 40 Oklahoma, it rose to No. 36. Nebraska defeated Kansas in its second conference road win of the season and moved up to No. 31 in the national rankings.
