Nebraska football coaches and players will provide hands-on coaching to area children this spring during the Husker Youth Experience set for Saturday, March 26 at Memorial Stadium.
The Husker Youth Experience is for area youth from age 8 through eighth grade. NCAA rules require that the free developmental clinic is open only to youth who live in the state of Nebraska, or within 100 miles of Lincoln. The clinic is limited to the first 500 registered participants, with registration available on-line at Huskers.com.
The participants will work on drills and fundamentals with Nebraska coaches and players. There will be four 10-minute segments teaching the following fundamentals: Form Tackling, Ball Skills, Running and Blocking. Area youth coaches are also encouraged to attend the Husker Youth Experience.
“The Husker Youth Experience will provide a great opportunity for young kids to feel the excitement that our players have every time they play in Memorial Stadium,” Nebraska Head Coach Bill Callahan said. “It will be a great opportunity for our players and coaches to give back to the community and help young people develop their football fundamentals.”
The Husker Youth Experience will be held on the field at Memorial Stadium, immediately following Nebraska’s practice on March 26. Nebraska’s practice, which will begin at 10:30 a.m., will be open for the participants and their parents or guardians and youth coaches to watch before the start of the event.
All pre-registered participants will be required to check in at the West Stadium (entrance on street level). Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to wear tennis shoes and Nebraska t-shirt or sweatshirts, with shorts or sweat pants. The participants will not wear helmets or shoulder pads. In case of inclement weather, the clinic will be held inside Cook Pavilion.
