Huskers Reach Out to Nebraska Community

Lincoln, Neb. ? The University of Nebraska Husker Outreach Program has several activities and events planned for this semester, beginning with the Huskers Helping Huskers Career Networking Night on Monday, Feb. 21. All events are sponsored by the Husker Athletic Department. Media looking for more information should contact Chris Anderson at 402-472-2263, while former Husker student-athletes or business associates and elementary school representatives who are interested in participating in future events may contact Keith Zimmer at 402-472-4616.

Feb. 21 ? Huskers Helping Huskers Career Networking Night...
Many of the 20-plus former Husker student-athletes who are participating rank among the best in their individual professions. Each year Assistant Athletic Director for Student Life Keith Zimmer and his staff invite former student-athletes from across the Midwest to meet with current Husker upperclassmen providing career and resume advice. While it is not a placement service, Husker student-athletes have gained valuable information on interviewing processes as well as sound career advice from these experts in their fields.

Media are invited to a reception that will proceed the networking session. The reception will begin at 5:45 p.m. in the West Stadium Club (Level 3) of West Memorial Stadium. At this time, media are welcome to interview the more than 20 former Husker student-athlete mentors who are participating in this event. Keith Zimmer and his staff will also be available to media at this time. The Huskers Helping Others is an annual event that features different former Huskers each year. Any former Husker interested in participating or assisting with sponsorship support, should contact Zimmer at 402-472-4616.

Other upcoming outreach and special events coming up include the Spring Break Tour of Excellence (March 14-17); National Student-Athlete Day (April 6), the Student-Athlete Recognition Banquet (April 17), and the School is Cool Week (April 25-29).
