Page Earns Big 12 Rookie Honor

Lincoln- Nebraska freshman Danielle Page earned her second Big 12 Rookie-of-the-Week award this season on Monday, for her outstanding play in last week's games against No. 17 Texas and No. 14 Iowa State.

Page, a 6-2 forward from Monument, Colo., averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocked shots and 1.5 steals in Nebraska’s games against Texas and IowaState. She opened the week by producing her fifth straight double-figure scoring effort with 13 points to go along with two rebounds and one steal in Nebraska’s loss at No. 17 Texas.

She closed the week by scoring eight points, grabbing five rebounds and blocking a career-high five shots in Nebraska's 88-59 win over Iowa State at the Devaney Center on Saturday.  Page, whose five blocks led directly to nine points for the Huskers in transition against the Cyclones, added a pair of steals in a stellar defensive effort.

Page has blocked 20 of her team-high 28 shots during Big 12 play and has vaulted to No. 4 on Nebraska's freshman single-season block list.  She is also making a strong push to earn Big 12 postseason honors by ranking third on the club in both scoring and rebounding in conference play with 9.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game through 11 league contests.

Nebraska has claimed four of the past six Big 12 Rookie-of-the-Week awards this season, as junior Jelena Spiric earned the honor in back-to-back weeks Jan. 10 and Jan. 17.

Dionnah Jackson (Oklahoma) was named the Big 12 Player of the Week. Jackson received the third player-of-the-week honor of her career and the second this season.

Jackson, a 5-9 senior guard, averaged 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and had a 1.4 assist/turnover ratio in Oklahoma’s games against No. 7 Baylor and No. 16 Kansas State last week. She went 82.4 percent from the free throw line (14-17), 50 percent from the arc (2-4) and 48.5 percent from the field (16-33). Jackson scored OU’s final 16 points en route to a career-high 30 points against Baylor to become just the 19th player in Sooner history to score at least 30 points in a single game. She added six rebounds, an assist, steal and blocked shot to her line.

Against KansasState, the St. Louis, Mo., native produced a team-best 18 points. Jackson also dished out nine assists.
