The 18th-ranked Nebraska softball team will have to wait another day to open the 2005 season after rain washed out the first day of the Louisville Slugger UNLV Desert Classic in Las Vegas on Friday.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
The Huskers were scheduled to open their season today, but will instead open their season on Saturday, weather permitting. Friday’s games will not be made up and Saturday’s games will be played as scheduled.
NU, which was scheduled to play only OregonState at 1:15 p.m. (CDT) on Sunday, is now schedule to play two games on Sunday. The Huskers are set to face the Beavers at 2:30 p.m. before facing UC Santa Barbara at 4:30 p.m.
Nebraska will now open the season against No. 14 Tennessee at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Stephanie Lynn Craig softball complex.
