Huskers Move Up to No. 8 Nationally

Lincoln ? The Nebraska women’s gymnastics team is up one spot to No. 8 nationally this week in the latest National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches poll released Monday.

This is also the second straight week the Huskers rank No. 1 in the NCAA South Central region, as well as first in the Big 12.

Most recently, NU captured its second win of the season, defeating Oklahoma, 196.775-195.775. The Huskers scored above 49.00 in all four events and took the top two spots in the all-around. 

Senior All-American Richelle Simpson led the way, capturing her second all-around title of the year with a score of 39.50, in addition to the balance beam title (9.925). Freshman Emily Parsons placed second in the all-around (39.40) and took the vault (9.95) and floor (9.925) titles. Sophomore Kristi Esposito took the uneven bars title (9.925) en route to a third-place finish in the all-around (39.225).

The Huskers will travel to Ames, Iowa, this Friday, Feb. 11, to take on No. 10 Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum at 7 p.m.
