Memorial Stadium Construction Update

Howard and Rhonda Hawks Championship Center
The flat roof on the two-story Championship Wing is being prepped and will have a roof installed if the weather allows. Metal stairs will be set in place by the end of the week. Mechanical and electrical roughins continue as well as masons in-filling beams and columns. Storm sewer work has now begun in the Championship Wing.  The precast concrete panels with embed brick veneer have been installed around the base of the fieldhouse.  The Howard and Rhonda Hawks Championship Center is slated for completion by fall camp in 2005.

Tom and Nancy Osborne Athletic Complex
Low head room piles continue to be placed under the stadium seating area. Footings, pile caps and tie beams are being dug and poured. Steel delivery is expected in late February for erection starting on the East end by the Ed Weir Track.  The completion date for the Osborne Complex is scheduled for August 2006.

The University of Nebraska Athletic Department will provide regular updates of the construction process on the North Stadium Expansion Project via its website, Huskers.com.  The Sports Information Office will obtain information from Boyd Epley, Associate Athletic Director, representing the athletic department and Brad Muehling, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Facilities Project Manager.  The site will provide pictures and written updates regarding the construction of the new athletic facilities being built on the North end of Memorial Stadium.  In addition, all three Construction Cams are live on the web, 24 hours a day.
