The Nebraska swimming and diving team competed in day one of the Texas Invitational on Thursday.
The Huskers competed well against some of the toughest competition in the nation.
Sophomores Kate Wheeler and Lauren Bailey endured the most success, both placing high in the 500-yard freestyle. Wheeler finished eighth in the A Final with a time of 4:56.78 while Bailey finished 11th overall with a time of 4:51.33 in the B Final.
Amie Buoy continued a great season with an eighth-place finish in a close three-meter diving competition. Buoy scored a 448.80 in the finals as less than two points separated third place from eighth place.
Nebraska finished 11th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:36.61) and twelfth in the 400-yard medley relay, the only relay events of the day.
The Husker scored 69 points on the day, and are currently seventh of 13 teams in the overall standings.
Competition resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m. with preliminary events. Finals will once again start at 6 p.m.
