Buoy Named Big 12 Diver of the Month

University of Nebraska diver Amie Buoy was named Big 12 Diver of the Month on Wednesday following an impressive round of performances in the month of November.

The junior from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was awarded the honor after posting a score of 500.45 in the three-meter at the Minnesota Invitational last weekend.  The score earned Buoy a fourth-place finish, and ranks fifth on Nebraska's all-time list. It topped her previous career high of 498.60 from the Big 12 Championships last February.

In addition, Buoy placed sixth in the one-meter (258.00) and seventh in the platform competition (313.05) at the Minnesota Invite.

This is the second time in Buoy's career she has been awarded with this honor, also being named Big 12 Diver of the Month in December of 2002.

This season, Buoy has competed in seven regular season diving competitions, placing in the top five on five occasions.  She recorded her top performance versus Southwest Missouri State with a first-place finish in the three-meter competition.

Buoy has qualified for the NCAA Zones in her first two years at Nebraska.  She nearly qualified for the NCAA Championships last season after placing third in the three-meter (498.60) and fourth in the one-meter (260.40) at the Big 12 Championships.
