Huskers in the NFL: Week 5

Lincoln -- Sunday was a big day for many of the 38 former Huskers playing in the National Football League.

At Gillette Stadium, Russ Hochstein helped pave the way for the Patriots ground attack that rushed for 135 yards as the New England Patriots defeated the Miami Dolphins 24-10, setting an NFL record with 19 consecutive wins.

In Atlanta, the play of center Dominic Raiola and fullback Cory Schlesinger helped the Detroit Lions upset Atlanta, snapping the Falcons' four-game winning streak with a 17-10 win. Raiola helped the Lions rush for 101 yards and keep them on top of the NFC North Divison at 3-1. Defensively, Demorrio Williams contributed with one assisted sack for Atlanta, while Eric Johnson recorded yet another tackle on special teams.

In Houston, Jay Former, the son of former Vikings great Chuck Foremanm, recorded 13 tackles and recovered a fumble as the Houston Texans gave the Minnesota Vikings all that they could handle before just falling short in overtime 34-28. Kris Brown stayed perfect on the season on extra points by completing four attempts. Defensively, Ralph Brown helped the Vikings to a 3-1 start by recording a pair of tackles.

In Seattle, the Grant Wistrom and Seahawks tried their best to stop the "greatest show on turf" but came up short in overtime, as the St. Louis Rams edged the previous unbeaten Seahawks, 33-27. For the game, Wistrom recorded three solo tackles, while kicker Josh Brown was 2-of-3 on field goal attempts with a long of 48 yards. After coming off injured reserve a few weeks ago, Dejuan Groce made his first start of the season for St. Louis by recording six solo tackles and breaking up a pass.

The week's NFL action concluded with the Green Bay Packers, led by former Husker running back Ahman Green, falling to the Tennesse Titans on Monday night.Geeen was held to 33 yards on 10 carries by the Tennessee defense.
