Huskers in the NFL: Week 3 Recap

Several former Huskers played prominent roles as six NFL teams concluded Sunday's contests with unbeaten records.

In Kansas City, the battle of the winless went to Houston, as former Husker Kris Brown kicked his eighth game-winning field goal of his career in the final seconds to help the Texans (1-2) edge the Chiefs (0-3) 24-21. Jay Foreman contributed on the defensive side with three tackles. In a losing effort, veteran offensive guard and former Husker Will Shields, a nine-time Pro Bowler, helped pave the way for Priest Holmes to become the Chiefs all-time leader in rushing yards. On defense, former Husker defensive back Eric Warfield recorded four solo tackles while adding his third interception in two games. 

In Seattle, former Husker place-kicker Josh Brown was perfect on the day with field goals and extra points as the Seahawks flew by the San Francisco 49ers (34-0) to remain unbeaten (3-0).  Brown, only the third kicker ever drafted by Seattle, has been a major part of the Seahawks' quick start, as they are 3-0 for only the fourth time in club history. On defense newly acquired defensive end Grant Wistrom made his presence known, as the former Husker All-American recorded four solo tackles.

The weekend concluded Monday night, as the Dallas Cowboys defeated Washington, 21-18. Former Husker linebacker Scott Shanle helped the Cowboys to the victory by recording one solo tackle.
