Huskers continue preparations for Southern Miss

The Nebraska football team worked out for 2 hours and 10 minutes at Memorial Stadium Wednesday afternoon as they continue preparing for Saturday’s game against Southern Mississippi.

On the offensive side of the ball, Head Coach Bill Callahan said the Huskers’ preparations have centered mainly on pass blocking against the Golden Eagles’ blitz packages.

"Our pass protection has been an emphasis of what we do in practice because of the number of stunts and blitzes they have," Callahan said.

Nebraska’s defense has also spent time preparing to see some option from the Southern Miss offense.

"The thing about the option is that it forces you to check your assignments," Callahan said.

Entering the final two days of practice before the Southern Miss game, the Huskers are relatively healthy, according to Callahan.

"So far, we’ve been able to stay pretty healthy," Callahan said.

Nebraska will practice Thursday before Friday’s walkthrough to close the preparations leading up to Saturday’s 11 a.m. game vs. Southern Miss.
