Athens, Greece ? Nenad Loncar, a senior-to-be on the Nebraska track & field team, finished 46th overall in the first round of men’s 110-meter hurdle competition Tuesday at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Loncar, competing for his home country of Serbia and Montenegro, did not advance to the second round after finishing eighth in heat one of the six-heat event in a time of 14.02 seconds. The first four finishers in each heat, followed by the next eight fastest overall, advanced to round two.

In his junior and sophomore seasons as a Husker, Loncar won silver in the 110-meter hurdles at both the 2003 and 2004 Big 12 Outdoor Championships. He claimed second place at the 2004 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships this past summer. The Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro, native’s personal-best time of 13.60 seconds, which was set at the European Under-23 Championships in 2003, is the former Yugoslavian national record.
